The Realm of Ahmashaar
Nation of Elves, Half-Elves, and enslaved Gnomes and Human females
Terrain is icy, cold, approximately 23% mountainous(higher than 1000 ft above sea level). The southern areas are less prone to snow cover, bearing a slightly warmer climate. The mid-northern areas are icy and valley ridden, while the northernmost region is rocky and mountainous.
The State of the Nation is thus: An Elven male mage, known as the High Paragon, heads the country, makes political decisions, and controls all aspects of the Military and Economy from the seclusion of the Aurora Palace, which sits high above the country itself. While all major decisions rest with the High Paragon, directly under him in the government structure is the Triumvirate Paragon, which is compromised of three Elven Mages, two of which must be of different genders, who are delegated to act with partial authority over the 13 districts of Ahmashaar. Basically, the Triumvirate settles the lesser problems, going to the High Paragon whenever something occurs beyond their scope of intelligence, and of course the High Paragon can overrule any decision the Triumvirate makes. Districts are headed by Claradons, which are mostly female, except for the southern districts. There are 10 northern districts(Ahmashallon), and 3 Southern districts(Naryon).
The northern districts are composed of a 67.4% mean Elvish population, a 12.3% Half-elf population, and a 20.3% Gnomish population. Elvish culture is primarily magic in nature, having required the use of magical forces to survive in the harsh climate. When the country was established, a magical barrier was created to shut out all humans over the northern districts, a barrier which also allows for partial climate control in chosen areas, mostly urbanized. It is important to note that the gnomes, which are indigenous to Ahmashaar, are enslaved in the development of industry. With magic and the intense forces behind it, things like transportation and entertainment are less enforced in the industrial area; therefore, over 90% of the industry goes towards the development of weapons, which the Pure Elves refuse to use(out of hatred for men) but the lesser-class Half-elves are all but forced to use. Half-elves are only born from human mothers, so that their relationship to humans is greater than to elves. They naturally tend to have talent for skilled weapons-use rather than magic, and exceptions are few. They do have the the ability to learn elementary magic on average, and it sometimes proves handy in battle.
The southern districts are not under the shield of magic; they are composed of 55.0% Human female, 11.7% Elven, 33.3% Half-elven, and negligible Gnome partial populations, with a 5:3 ratio in the population of the northern districts to the southern. The reason for the population of female humans is the procreation of Half-elves; however, because they are human, and unclean in the eyes of Elves, they are not allowed inside Ahmashallon(the northern districts, under the shield). However, the southern district continues to exist in order to provide a breeding ground for Half-elves, a training ground for the weapons-based military, and an area of the country in which the "Human scum" can live without having sacred magic protecting them from harsh northern conditions.
At this point, the High Paragon is K'Lorollen of Fabian(the first Paragon and founder of Ahmashaar who ascended to Godhood after his reign) House, and his chosen Triumvirs are Tobyana and her brother Valios, both of Rothull House, and Illyria of Porthion House(which descended from Fabian's house). Claradons worth mentioning are Quulannala of the 6th, Valios the Lesser, of the 13th, and Belloguage of the 12th, recently missing.
The military status is greatly divided between Ahmashallon and Naryon. While almost the entire elven population of the realm can use magic, only about half of them are strong enough to engage in battle. The elves despise hand-to-hand combat, which they leave to the half-elves. The main military is composed of approxamately 18,000 elves(3,000 of which live in the south) and 10,000 half-elves. There also exists an elite regiment of half-elves which trains with both magic and weaponry(specifically spiked chains) and focuses on speed and stealth. They train in the north, and are called The Archknights of Fabian, about 500 strong. The military is about as loose in the North as it is strict in the South, where there is almost a state of perpetual martial law. The Southern districts are always the first place the Humans would attack and also the most vulnerable place for a revolt(5:3 ratio of human women to half-elves), and therefore its defense is paramount, which is why Claradons in the South are the more military minded elven men rather than women.
The official religion of Ahmashaar is worship of the deceased Fabian, who led the elves out of the Orclands and was rumored to have ascended to godhood. Half-elves are known for resenting this religion, believing it to be false and blasphemy towards the "true" Gods which they hear about from their allies, the Nell. Other permissible religions are worship of Crustai, goddess of white magic for those who practice it, though this deity is looked down upon by the Order of Fabian, which is known for despising Crustai's consort, Palador; worship of Zarath, God of ice; worship of Roth, the Dwarven and Gnomish God of Forging(for gnomes); and worship of Hannah, Goddess of Lust and Fertility(human females, so that they will bear half-elven children). It is worth noting that few members of the elven population are religious enough or old enough to remember any Gods or Goddesses other than Fabian; the Half-elves, however with their human curiosity, ponder frequently the nature of Fabian's cult and if there is more to it than meets the eye. Human females are forced to worship both Fabian and Hannah, while the Gnomes pretty much just do whatever they want.
