The sun was just setting over the nice small village of Secca. The festivities were about to begin: Everyone had been in constant preparation. The booths were all set. The whole town was out tonight. The children were running up and down the street, playing kalorians and orcs. this is a game where the human children would run around catching the other, nonhuman, children. the putting them in jail. the tavern were full people.people buying and selling everywhere. everyone was have a good time. No one noticed the lonely figure up on the roof watching wishing he could join them. wishing he could be apart. wishing he could feel loved...

Down the street rode four Dwarves upon their ram mounts. They were a very sullen group, none of them smiling or laughing or doing anything one looking forward to a festival would do. They slowly looked around as they rode. As they passed in front of the building on which Terrag stood, one of them stopped. His ram shifted slightly. His head suddenly jerked and he was staring Terrag straight in the eye. A cart came between them, and when it passed both Dwarf and ram were gone. The other three had continued on down the street and appeared to take no notice that their comrade was gone, or they just didn't care.

That dwarf was of no concern of Terrag's at this time. The dwarfs were not hurting anyone in this peaceful little village. This village the one he had lived in for most of his life. This village the one that had taken him in as a orphan. The kinda people of this village who let him sleep in there barn, those who had in the middle of the coldest winter had given him the cloak off there back so he would not freeze to death. The people who after his "little mix up with the wrong person" welcomed him back with open arms. who's children's, children's, children's, children's children are playing in the street who smile when they see him, who call him old man Terrag, who will badger him with questions who will make him smile, who will feel the little bit of his heart that is left with joy. But there was something about the dwarfs that made Terrag uneasy. Terrag would do well to keep it in mind to watch these newcomers.

The heavy thump of large boots came from behind Terrag as Rider strode up behind him.

'Dwarfs are always so noisy", said Terrag without turning, "Even when you are dead. What brings you to this happy little town, O great servant of Death?"

Rider grunted. "We're jus' passin through. And we don't exactly take orders from Death anymore. You'd do good to remember that." he said, drumming his fingers on the grip of one of the pistols in his belt. The last rays of the sun disappeared below the horizon and Rider became his true form. All the exposed parts of his body were nothing but bone. His clothes looked as if they were a little too big for him because he had lost his muscle mass and beer belly. "You might find your curse hard to live with, but you have no idea what ours is like." Rider said as he held his hand up in front of his face, looking at his bone fingers.

"Do you Feel that?". Terrag was looking all around, "do you feel the cold, The cold it is like......Death." Terrag could see them, many of them. They were flying above the town. Why? why where these demons here? Why this town? "can you see them dwarf?"

"Aye, I see 'em. There's been more and more of 'em the past couple of days. They don't look too happy." Rider's voice sounded the same though his face could no longer show expression. "Looks like they're headin' this way. If you care for any in this village, you better let' em know whats comin. We'll hold 'em as long as we can." He placed his thumb and index finger in his mouth and let loose a sharp whistle. The other three wardens came riding through the middle of town and stopped in the middle of the street just below him. "We've got beasties boys, lets take em out!" "Aye!" they shouted in unison. Rider turned to Terrag, "Ya best get movin' there be little time." He then turned and lept down off the roof.

This is not good Terrag thought to himself. Terrag leaped off the building onto the ground. The church bells he though to himself if he could only get there in time. If he could only get the peaple inside maybe one of the gods would save them. Maybe..

Mad-eye leveled his rifle and flipped up his eye patch. He looked down the sights of his rifle. A scowl spread across his face. His finger lightly touched the trigger, then suddenly pulled back on it hard. With a loud BANG the rifle fired, and two of the flying creatures dropped, just as Mad-eye had planned. He laughed to himself as he held up two boney fingers before he began to reload his rifle. The other three wardens leveled their rifles but did not fire. They began moving in the direction of the demons, but held their fire. Mad-eye had a feel for long range shots. The others could not hope to pull off.
