(OOC: This thread will progress slowly, it isn't meant for others to join in. This will be the cause of the new conflict in Gorgraz.)
"How much farther are we goin to go taday?" "Just a littl' farther." The dwarven steam drill slowly cut through the rock. Suddenly the drill lurched forward and the captain slammed on the brake. "I think we've found a cave." He backed the drill up and the crew piled out. The drill bit was designed so the crew could get around it if they needed to. On the other side of the drill was a hole that opened to a huge cavern. They had penetrated the wall about thirty feet up. The climbing gear was brought out. They made their way down to the floor. Laid into the far wall was a massive stone door. "What do ya suppose tha is?" "Dunno, bet it's guardin treasure." "It's got writin on it. Maybe we should leave it alone." "We came down here to explore, and I'll be damned if we don't do just that. As they crossed the cavern the temperature dropped a good fifty degrees. By the time they reached the door they were fairly uncomfortable. "Lets hurry up and get this thing open..."

Meanwhile on the other side of the mountain the shade Fabador was personally overseeing the mining efforts. There was something very important down here Karon had been sure to press that point, but what could it be? A lowly warlock overseer slowly approached Fabador in a half cringe half bow motion "My lord we have found a cavern.." Fabador didn't like and form of time wasting and butted into the lowly underlings sentence "Is it the right cavern or not?" The warlock shook as he spoke "N..No it isn't my master but please hear me out..." Fabador hadn't killed him so that was the signal to continue "The cave is filled with precious ore and jewels, but we are sure this is the right mountain we just need more time and..."
Fabador lurched out with his hand grabbing the underlings face, with a tiny thought the underlings head froze solid then Fabador crushed it with is hand. Fabador had no need of such talk... Fabador moved to where he could overlook the caves entrance where the slaves worked and shouted "If we don't reach that cave on schedule all of you will be eviscerated!" Fabador turned away from the cave he had half a mind to go down there and bust through himself cause if Karon got angery.... Well best not to think of that. "Just got to go and find whatever it is Karon wants Ive always been able to do it before... yea when I had to kill people to get it at least that was fun, but this? Its so boring but what could he do? It was either this or Karon would kill him."

The stone doors were the smoothest doors any of the dwarves had ever seen. There didn't seem to be any way to open it. "Well, this could be harder than I though' "

It had been several days. More and more dwarven crews arrived every day with equipment. They numbered about fifty now with enough power to blow through the whole mountain. It wouldn't be long now.

"Sir, we were able ta open the door a little." The foreman was excited, "Really?!? Then show me!" They both hurried to the door. The term 'a little' had been an used lightly, the door's smooth surface was now compromised my a slight bump were one door was slightly pulled out. The bump didn't even measure a quarter of an inch. "That's what you're talkin abou'?!? Tha' isn' open!" The foreman began to get very angery.
Unknown to him, though the crack was enough to begin a process that should have been left unstarted. Outside, the sky began to get cloudy. Clouds so dark, they almost looked black.

Jonok soared through the skies of Gorgraz, toward Cornar, the Cereashian captial.
Talrot has to know whats going on, and what to d... His thoughts were interupted as a chill ran down his spine. Before him, the darkest clouds he had ever seen began to form. "No... it... can't be!" Jonok's speed tripled as he poured all his Han into his air orb, he had to get to the city...

The foreman's demeanor suddenly changed. He very calmly said, "But it's a great start, keep it up!" He turned and walked away, hands clasped behind him... chuckling.
Though the door had only moved a hair, it was enough for the first bits of evil to come seeping out. The foreman was the first of many... to become possessed.

Jonok reached Cornar, nestled in the mountains that surounded the Temple of the Gods. He did not bother to land, he flew straight to Talrots door, where he landed and straightened his robes. He knocked and was immediately asked inside. "Talrot, the storms is it..." "Yes, Jonok, the return is eminent, there is nothing that can be done to stop it now, the seal is compromised. ‘The trend has begun again’ as the lore would say.” “But the people of the land, they are not ready, they will not understand!” Tolrot rose from his chair, his voice louder than before, “Whether they understand or not, it will begin, and the people of the land must know. Knowledge is a powerful weapon.” “We should send out runners to all the villages and towns, we will be there for the people this time.” Jonok turned to leave, but Tolrot stopped him. “Jonok, I think you should know something. I have sensed a powerful force, and it is not emanating from the gateway. It is emanating from an individual in a town not far from the gate. This person, is as powerful as you, and not only that, but has the same kind of power.” “You mean…” “Yes, I have reason to believe that in the first time in over three thousand years, there is a second Guardian amongst us.” “I’ll look into it,” Jonok replied, slightly startled. A second Guardian? Could it be? “If it is who I think it is, you’ll know what to do.” Jonok’s hand went into the pocket in his cloak and felt the smooth blade of the sacred weapon Firewind, “Yes, I do.”
With that he was out the door and heading back out into the darkening night time sky, to seek out this powerful individual.

It had been only a few hours since the foreman was possessed and now almost the entire crew had suffered the same fate, all but one. The foreman got climbed the steps to the door and turned to face out into the cavern. "My brothers! Our time has come! We may now open the gateway and release our master from his prison!" The one dwarf who was still himself, Gonam, was stunned by the statement. The foreman walked up to the door, arms outstreched, and he began to chant. The others did the same. The crack in the door began to glow and the doors began to open. A large winged demon was the first thing to exit the gateway, and it immediately climbed up though the hole the dwarves had dug and took to the skies. Gonam had to cover his mouth to keep from yelling in fear. He made his way to the tunnel and began to creep his way along it, but his creeping quickly became an all out sprint. He reached the mouth of the dwarven made cave and mounted a near by ram. Just before he got the ram moving her looked over his shoulders to see three small four-legged demons bound out of the hole. That was all the incentive he needed. His ram shot out into the night with the horrible screams of the demons right in his tail. (Gonam's adventure meets a gruesome end in The Rattled Messenger)

Within the land of Zargon in the temple of balance the great scale of Gorgraz (The scale that weighed the balance in all of Gorgraz) began to sway wildly. The priests watched on in horror as one side of the scale fell down and smashed into the stone flooring creating a large crater. The head priest was first to break the silence turning quickly to a nearby Dragoth "Go! Go and tell Stron now!"
The Dragoth flew with as his might to Strons chambers "My liege the scale... its.. its fallen..." Stron eyes widened as he turned to his mirror with the twist of his taloned hand the mirror wavered then it began to grow darker and darker until it was absolutely black... Then the mirror shattered. Stron was taken aback then turning to the head of the agents who had been there for other business "Order an immediate recall of all agents now!" then turning to one of his personal messengers "Start preparations!" the messenger looked around "For what sir?" Stron gazed at him with fire in his eyes "For war! I want all forces to begin preparations for immediate dispatch!" the messenger nodded then flew off Stron sat down on his throne and looked at the shattered mirror then he slammed his fist into the arm of the throne denting it on contact. "Why didn't we see this before now?"

Lesser demons flowed from the gateway in the thousands. After several minutes of this the flow slowed. The demons made their way up the tunnel through the woods toward a near by town, for they could smell living flesh there. A great roar billowed forth from the gateway, a command to remain in the forest. They had tried brute force before, now was the time to for cunning. A silhouette appeared in the doorway. "Is everything going according to plan? Did the cowardly one flee?" The foreman, who stood right beside the door, stepped forward and bowed low, "Yes, master, all is working as you had hoped." The figure in the doorway began to laugh, a laugh that would chill you to your very core.
