Tam watched as an unconscious adventurer was taken out of the pit along his his victorious opponent, who was attempting to not bleed to death. The announcer stepped up and shouted out above the crowd. "Who will be next to step into the pit and risk their life for fame?!?!?!" No one came. "Come now," he called, "Doesn't any one have the guts to put on a show for the other guests?!?!?" Still no one came. "What about you, sir elf?!? You look like a mighty dangerous fellow!" He looked straight at Tam. Tam replied by sighing. He had only come here to see what this new establishment was, and he really didn't want to fight. But people had noticed him now, and some were yelling for him to go. With another sigh he walked to the edge of the pit and vaulted over the rail one hand, landing lightly on his feet. "I will fight whoever wishes to try and best me!"

Dark storm clouds formed overhead as a dark portal emanated from the other side of the arena floor, as a dark figure rose from the void a cold wind blew in from out of nowhere and thunder could be heard in the distance. "I am Fabador and if you still wish it elf." He gave a sigh "... I will fight you." when he was done with his intro he gave another sigh and rotated his neck to pop it a few times. Fabador stood straight up and the portal disappeared with one hand resting on the hilt of his sword and the other at his side he looked very confident.... and smug... and well maybe a bit apathetic.

"Of course," replied Tam. He drew his weapons but made no further moves. He stood with his weapons by his sides, waiting for Fabador to make the first move.

"Well now, we have two combatants! Ladies and Gentlemen, I think they might need some motivation. Summoners, give 'em something... fun!" The announcer laughed an evil laugh and the crowd roared with excitement. Several robed figures walked up to the rail and began to chant. Bones began to rise up out of the ground and soon a bone dragon had formed in the arena with the two combatants. It raised its head and roared a bone chilling roar.

Fabador had ridden more fearsome beast within his long life many of which where extinct now, but this creature was indeed powerful. Laughing at a thought that had come to him "How about you summoners summon a Shade into the world? I bet that would be fun eh? Laughing as he turned back to face the elf and dragon he was thinking about how he had come to be... One silly summoner that was to dumb for his own good. Now the storm overhead was truly brewing as the clouds grew ever more dark and filled with lightning the cold wind that blew now chilled to the bone, as Fabador released small ice crystals into the wind dropping the temperature to a damp cold area that reminded Fabador of the great northern lands.
Fabador looked the dragon over, then the elf, then back to the dragon... he couldn't decide which one looked more timed and weak, but someone had to make a move "So how about we start?" Fabador slowly released a dark cloud over the battle ground shrouding it with darkness. It was so dark one could only see something if it was three feet in front of him... Well unless you where a Shade like Fabador which could see perfectly well in darkness. Then using a voice that came from everywhere Fabador whispered "What do you fear more elf? My blade or the dragons fangs?"
The only sound after that anyone could hear was the low sound of the wind passing through the hollows of the arena and the clattering of an impatient dragon.

The audience booed when the fog filled the arena. "Whoa! Appears we have some powerful casters in the ring! Summoners, a little help?" The summoners walked to the crystals that ringed the pit and began chanting. The crystals created a magical veil that allowed the audience to see through the fog.
The dragon roared again. It was not effected by the fog because it did not see. It had a very sensitive sense of smell and acute hearing. It got low to the ground and began to advance on the place it had heard Fabador speak.

Tam close his now useless eyes and focused on using his keen elven hearing to detect movement. For several moments all was quiet except for the wind and the bones clicking on the dragon, whose location he was pin-pointing. Then he chuckled softly - just loud enough that he knew the shade could hear. Then he spoke in a carrying whisper as he reached slowly into his pouch an withdrew a crystal. "Fear is not within my emotional capacity." He quickly created a large amount of fire with the crystal and sent it flying at the dragon. Let's see what happens now.

The fire engulfed the dragons mid-section and charred its bones, knocking a few of them free. It stumbled slightly from the blast. When it regained its footing, it turned and pounced in the direction from which the fire had come from.

The darkness that engulfed the battle area got colder... much much colder the ground started to frost over and the air within the darkness started to condense into frigged snow. If the temperature kept falling like this nothing normal would survive Fabador boasted from his unseen place with the voice that came from everywhere at once "Can you feel it? Joints begeing to ache? Feeling begining to numb? Reflexes slowing? Spine begining to shake? Heart slowing? Its happening right now you may not know it yet but its happening. I wonder how long until hypothermia sets in?" Wind whipped the cold air making it even colder and yet the darkness remained unwavering. Fabador sat like a cat playing with a mouse until the mouse died and the cat lost interest.

Tam leaped into a roll out of the dragon's path as soon as he heard the bones creak from the dragon's leap, leaving another ball of fire hovering where he had been standing. Knowing that he couldn't keep alive with both enemies targeting him, he started to work his way around the arena in order to put Fabador between him and the dragon. Tam's mind raced, trying to find out a solution to the permeating cold he felt seeping into his bones.

The dragon landed in the fire and slid a little ways. Now its face was charred, but this blaze didn't faze it. It only wenced at the heat. When Fabador spoke, the dragon turned and charged in the direction of hs voice, but due to the nature of how Fabador spoke, it could not tell how far away he was.

Fabador smirked the dragon was pretty good at finding where he was. Fabador slid along the ground as if it where ice his feet made no sound with his unholy abilities. Every second that passed by the ring got colder as Fabaor slid along he began to think about what to do next. "What about carnivorus... no... Well maybe if they where... no...." Fabador just had to many ideas and didn't know which one to act out. Then an idea came to Fabador "Well maybe having some secondary plans would be good." With a few movements of his hand a dark shadow formed around his feet it slightly resembled a snake in shape and length. Then he went back to his previous thoughts "What now?"

Tam could tell that the dragon was no longer after him by judging the change in distance of its clattering. He stopped and stood still, concentrating all of his will power on not shivering and all of his hearing on listening for Fabador. He was worried that a creature so skilled in creating darkness would be skilled in moving noiselessly. then an idea came to him. His cold may be magical, but fire still must be able to warm up air. It would use most of his energy, but if he didn't he would soon be useless from the cold. He removed five more crystals from his pouch. Steeling himself for the drain of energy, he formed many moderate sized balls of energy and scattered them throughout the pit. Maybe if I'm lucky one of those will hit that guy The temperature had leveled off and now was slowly getting warmer. Now if I can just find a way to finish this fight quickly without draining the little remaining energy I have.

Since Fabador moved aside noiselessly, the dragon continued its charge until it collided with the pit's wall. Its head took the full force of the blow and a bone splintering crack could be heard. It howled in pain as it recoiled from the blow, a large crack had formed in its skull, revealing a faint blue light within. Its "heart" if you will. It source of magical energy. Several of the bones it its neck had also broken, and they slowly relined themselves, though they were weak now.

Indeed one of the fiery balls was heading straight for Fabador "Enough of this." He thought. Then his ice orb glowed white with the power that issued forth from it. The power formed as ice that collected around his fist he then slammed it into the ground, as he did so a ripple flew through the ground completely icing it over and disabling the fire. From random spots on the arena floor large icy columns of varying shapes and sizes rose up from the ground and lifted a bit of the fog with them making it slightly easier to see. But not to much easyer... one could make out heavily shrouded figures and shadows, but it would be easy to mistake one of the pillars for a person... or a dragon. Fabador looked around careful not to give away his piston behind a pillar that he had moved behind, from his spot Fabador could see for a random magical slam into the ground it had turned out quite nicely.

Tam swung his bastard sword out to his side as he heard a noise from that direction and felt his sword hit something solid and stop halfway through it. In fact, he realized, it was TOO solid. He opened his eyes to find the fog had lifted somewhat and that he had been so skilled he had gotten his sword stuck in.......... a pillar of ice. He tugged once on the sword, swore inside his head, and grabbed his other dirk from his boot. He stepped behind the ice-pillar and swore under his breath as he simultaneously realized both that the ground was covered in ice and that his fires had gone out. He leaned out for a glimpse and saw the dimly-lit outlines around the entire ring. He swore again, louder this time. I think I preferred the fog. Then and idea struck him. "Why don't you come over here and fight like a man instead of the knave you are!!" he yelled out. Then using every ounce of his training as a scout he noiselessly climbed up the side of the pillar until he was above a humanoids line of sight and hidden in between the spurs of the outcropping. To spot him some one would have to be directly in front of him. He pulled out his blowgun and set a dart.

The injured bone dragon, howled in pain again. It started trying to move, but an ice pillar had formed up thought its ribs. It began flailing around and after a short struggle broke the pillar. It turned and began to search for its prey. The soft crackle of the ice was enough to let the dragon "see." It slowly walked around and climbed over pillars searching...

Fabador could hear the beating of the elfs heart and the blood within his veins and knew where he was hiding. But what to do? An idea formed in Fabadors dark mind he slid along silently close to the pillar where the elf hide. He was sitting on the side opposite the bone dragon taking great care Fabador set his foot down into the snow making sure to get a good crisp crunchy sound. Then he prepared to slide away again.

Tam had been getting edgy since he had heard the dragon start coming nearer. When he heard a crunch on the other side of him he realized he was in a bad position. This guy is good. Then he remembered the dragons collision with the wall. The has to be damage to his skull from the sound of the crash. He listened for another second and then made his move. He grabbed the jut of ice with one hand and flipped himself up onto the top of the pillar, landing on his feet facing the dragon. He quickly fired his dart at his best judgment of the dragons skull and jumped off the pillar, tossing his blowgun aside to reduce the chance of smashing it. He landed in a roll that brought him to his feet and ran toward the other side of the arena. Then he slowed down enough he could be silent and hid behind another pillar. I hope that dart slipped into a vital area.

The dart lodged in the crack in the dragon's skull. Though it did not enter the skull, the tip of the dart was just on the inside, scratching the bright blue orb of magic. The dragon let loose its loudest, shrillest cry of pain yet. It fell over on its side, flailing its limbs about, knocking over ice pillars. It scratched at the dart but only forced it in farther. It began emmiting a high pitched, ear-splitting wail.

Fabador shrugged at the scene that had unfolded "Well its not what I expected... But owell." Fabador contemplated his next move a thought hit him... not a truly amazing plan, but hey this wasn't a special situation now was it? Fabador waved his hand at the icy area around him and small objects started to form from the snow. Fabador combined the power from his ice orb to make there shape and put a little of his own dark energy into them to bring them to life. Fabador had created ice insects much like the killer swarming stickerbugs on the southern shores of Gorgraz. The insects icy wings began to flap together as they rose from the ground and took flight the swarm began to fly through the battlefield in search of there pray. The insects upon finding there victim would do just what there real life counterparts would do... seek, swarm, sting, and kill. Fabador had used quite a bit of energy, but he was still fine for a few more big spells. So Fabador took up a seat near a pillar to watch and listing to the fun.

Tam slapped his neck, wondering what a bug was doing in a place like this and why it had stung him. Then he saw them emerge from the fog. He retreated quickly and uttered a very strong, very loud curse. He grabbed a fire crystal. "Mur de feu avec plafond!" His voice seemed to resonate and both the fire orb and crystal shone for a second. Then they were dimmed in light of the tube of fire that formed around Tam, quickly followed by a cap on the top. The magic was formed so that the caster was both given air and and kept from being hurt by the heat. Anything else was incinerated or melted upon proximity. Tam waited inside, desperately trying to think of an offensive move.

Many of the bugs melted when they got to close to the fire barrier and only few remained Fabador was busy thinking of his next big moves... He couldn't decide which would be more fun to use. He had many many ideas floating around in the void of his mind and his dark heart wished to see them all brought forward, but Fabador could not do this... It would be pointless to waste so much energy on a fight such as this. He had probably already spent to much and should probably end it, but he decided to wait and see so as to determine what he should do next.

Tam let the fires die out. He thought he could remember which direction those bugs had come from. He was about to hide behind another pillar when his old teacher's words came to mind. The best defense is a good offense. He thought of his fairly new ice orb and an idea came to him. He concentrated and the orb shone brightly inside his pouch. He raised his hand and began "shooting" (creating and propelling) very small, thin icicles. He shot them in a large area, covering most of the direction from whence the bugs had came. Those won't hurt him much, but he'll have to do some serious dodging to avoid them.

"Well now, folks, it appears the elf's got some fight left after all!" The crowd cheered at Tam's new offensive move.
However, the dart he had thrown was still at work as well. The dragon had been flailing wildly before the bugs had been created by Fabador's magic. Several of them crawled through the crack that was held open by the dart. The pain they caused the summoned beast was increadible. It began to run, crashing through ice pillars, and its path was taking it straight towards Fabador.
