Jaroc had wandered in the woods for hours it seemed like. He had headed up the coastline, just like he had been told to, but now he wasnt sure where he was. He had headed inland, seeing a city of Kalor in the distance, but thought maybe he had found a shortcut through these dark, mysterious woods. He didn't know what lied ahead, but he had heard rumors around the ports his ship had docked at, and with the crew, that the once mighty race of the Erodean Elves still lived in some woods near Kalor. Hmmm... he thought as he went deeper in the woods, that would be a sight to see.

"'Alt where you are!" Came a rugged voice from behind Jaroc. A man dressed in the won leather armor of a Kalorian Outrider, the now defunct elite patrol and tracker units. "I've been trackin' ya for a might good clip now. You seems lost. And that means you ain't from here..." He drew back his lowbow. "Now then, be a good lad, turn around slowly and 'splain who you is..."

"... and why you are so close to the Erodaen's stronghold." Came a voice a few feet to the side of the kalorian. Down dropped and elf wearing black flexible armor and a green cloak from a tree. His longbow too, was drawn to its fullest extent.

" Hey, Hey, buddies, no need for all this harshness, its not like Im a pirate or nothing, jeez." Jaroc turned around slowly. "Im just an honest passerby, gave up piratin....hmmm...its been so long ago, i cant remember when...anway, i was figuring on takeing a shortcut to some Kalorian city near here, and stumbled onto you two young ladies, and well, here we are now, aint that right mates? Well, you wanted to hear my story, there it is, and if one of you would be so kind to point me towards that there city, Or...the way i might find a boat and a crew, or something else to do, although im not too intreseted in bars like most pirates. Not that im a pirate, just an honest fellow, righto chapsp?"

Tam resisted the urge to release the bowstring. "Your manners are almost as bad as you lies. For starters, unless your stupid too, you can tell that neither of us are ladies, although you would be honored to be a elven maid, and better fighter to boot. Secondly, I can smell the salt on your clothes from here, so if ye can't remember the last time ye went piratin', you have the shortest memory in history. And thirdly, they isn't a city close enough for you to be short-cuttin' to besides the stronghold of the Erodaen. And no-one short of Palador himself is welcome there. So lets hear why your really here before I 'accidentally slip."

"well, if you wanta hear the honest truth...'' Jaroc began to think that this elf really needed to take some kind of medicine, preferably some with some really foul tasting liquid. "I was attacked by a killer rapid beaver that talked, then after running for my life, i ended up here. Now, if you'll just excuse me, I'll just go back the way I came, and take my chances with that beaver. " He began to move back in the direction he had gone."

Tam's arrow quickly caught up with the man and then past him to embed itself in a tree..... along with the man's belt and cutless. "I'd stop if I were you, or the next one's going through your shirt." Tam's voice was like ice and the tell-tale flickering was in his eyes. "I can talk to beavers, as it so happens, being an elf and all. But if you'd rather not face the beaver, I'd be obliged to sick a couple of bears on you instead... hungry bears."

"yeah, I've had it worse, you know, man eating leapord seals off the straites of tomorrow, (thats some kind of ocean place) which im sure the straite part doesnt reflect on your past at all, mr elf now would it. But hey, you can talk to animals, thats nice." He walked to the tree, grabbed the shaft of the arrow, and tried to pull it out. He jerked, but it wouldn't come. He stood up, sighed, then turned around and kicked it. He pulled his foot back, astonished at how hard it hurt. He pulled a little knife from his boot, and began to work it out of the wood. He finally got it out, then walked back over to the elf, belting back on his cut...excuse me...kutless. He handed the arrow back to the elf, then said in a low voice, "Im sorry if you woke up on the wrong side of the tree this morning, but that was my favorite belt, and you just poked a hole in it. I wouldn't do it again, and i wouldnt mess up my shirt either, i'd have to bleed on you and mess up yours."

Suddenly an arrow embedded itself in Jaroc's thigh. The Kalorian had not moved nor said a word the whole time. "Don't worry." he finally said. "I didn't miss. You elves are to nice" He said to Tam. "You gotta be rough, wit them pierat types." He glared at Jaroc. "Stand up and walk, scum."

"What in the BLOODY heck do you think you just did?" Jaroc kinda set back on the ground due to the object protruding from his leg. "I just got that leg replaced half a year ago! Okay, maybe not, but its still my favorite leg, and you had on right to shoot an innocent passerby in the bloody leg! I mean, look at it. Its litterally a BLOODY LEG! I outa Kutless you. But Im a nice guy. Actually, I'm a nice guy with a bloody freakin hole in his leg! I hate you you bloody Land lubbin pig wallerin skunk sniffen tree huggin frog kissing porkipine petting bloody leg shooter! I'm going to see to it that your court marshalled, No one should have to have a hole in their BLOODY LEG! How would you like it if i shot you in the leg? I could you know, if that kind elf would lend me his bow, he owes it to you, after yall abandoned his country." He nodded in the elf's direction. "But then again, they live on your land, eating all your food that could be going to your army, your women, or your children. They live on land that could be used to advance Kalors mighty cities. But what am I saying, thats between you two. Has nothing to do with an ex-pirate with a hole in his leg. Man did I ever pick the wrong port to get off at.
((and by the way tam, i forgot to mention it earlier, but how do you know that this guy didnt take a bath or change clothes...you cant smell salt water if its not on him you know. Elves aint sycic))

((I was assuming that you didn't find a clothes store and rent-a-shower in the middle of the woods.... since you mentioned you left the port at the end of your arrival post in the unclaimed territory))
An elven arrow thudded into the ground not more than half an inch from Jaroc.... that is, from the crook of Jaroc's legs. "Shut the bloody freak up, will you!!!" Tam turned towards the outrider, "You see why you don't shoot pansies like him? After you do they never shut up." Tam turned his attention back to the man sitting on the ground after trying to silently let the man in on the bluff about being able to talk to animals, "Right, now listen up. I'm tired your stupid pointless whining. Any more insolence and I'm gonna peg you to that tree with a couple more arrows and be on my way. Now, tell me what your name is, where your from, and what your doing in these woods." The flickering of Tam's eyes told him he wasn't joking....about any of it.

"fine fine you merciless cutthroats. I was a pirate on the good ship Woodship, lead by the treacherous captain Brokepeg. He was always a beating us crewmen, and i got tired of it. I meant no harm to you or you cruel excuse for a pal here, just have a witty personallity. I was hoping to find a ship around here, hire me a crew, maybe get a job helping out someone's navy around here, or ferrying goods and such. As for your little elven nation, i havent heard much about them, as i took to the seas just a litte after the orc war. They kinda took "care" of my town, and so I left. I'm just a kid. Come on, give me a break. Or fix my bloody leg. That really hurt. My self esteem is down in the blinking bilge right now. Thanks a lot. Soldiers think they're so tough. Put'em on a ship, and their sick in ten minutes. Anyway..." he looked up at Tam to see if this was good enough to satisfy him, not really careing about the bloody soldiers opinion, because it was the elfs arrow that nearlly erased his manhood.

Tam nodded. "See? Wouldn't that have been a lot easier if you had cooperated at the beginning, not to mention a little less painful. But I'm afraid this is actually this gentleman's country, and therefore you are in his custody, not mine. However, I can do a bit to your leg." Without waiting for a response Tam moved to the man's legs. Knowing that Kalorians barbed their arrows he quickly jambed the arrow the rest of the way through the man's leg, sliced of the head, and yanked it back out the way it came. He winced, knowing how much that had hurt, and quickly put a couple of healing spells on it, not enough to completely heal it, but enough to make it scab over and stop bleeding and hurting. "Also, you neglected to mention your name," he said, stepping back.

Far off in the woods a large, slow, and uncaring mass stroad trough the forest. Currently made of intertwining vines and leafs Morgath had entered the woods not knowing and truly not caring where they led as long as he was going somewhere he was content, but unknowing to him he was heading right for the country side of Kalor a place that would never accept a creature composed of as much magic as he was.

For a long moment there was an uncomfortable silence while the pirate grimaced either from pain or from trying to decide whether or not to disclose his name. Then suddenly a spot of the ground sort of puffed and a few drops of water floated up to Tam's eye-level, forming letters that only Tam found legible. Tam read for several moments, then chanted. Small letters of fire formed in front of him briefly, then flew away as is blown by breeze. He turned back to the others, "Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm needed on the other side of the forest. Onward with justice, good man of Kalor... pirate, ....good luck, your going to need it. Farewell." With that, Tam ran off, moving faster than one would think possible.
